Christmas Bonus

How do you determine what amount of bonuses to give to workers?

I never worked with distributing bonuses to "top executives" but I have prescribed a really great way of determining what bonuses line workers should receive.

  • Start with a base pay as the bonus. This means that the most a person will get is either a week (or in better cases, a month's) pay.
  • Build a rating system from 1 to 5 for the following categories:
    • Punctuality (late to work)
    • Absenteeism
    • Supervisor's rating (willingness, attitude towards work, etc)
    • Peer's rating (team player, etc)
    • Your rating

TimeQ Error 45060

posted Oct 5, 2015, 2:07 PM by Surendra Dhanpaul   [ updated Oct 31, 2015, 8:15 AM ]

A client of mine experienced an error in TimeQPlus that read: 45060 exception error when trying to add a new employee.

The problem occurs when your employees fields do not have the exact number of digits.

1. The UserId field has only 2 digits.

2. The badge field has only 8 or 9 digits.

3. The number field less than 9 digits.

To fix, find the field that has the wrong field length and correct it.

If you are familiar with Microsoft SQL Server, you might be able to find and fix very quickly.

You can find the bad pin by using this query:

FROM Employees

If you are having difficulties, please feel free to contact me and I will be more than happy to help.

Good luck.

Showbox on Windows

Many people search for apps like showbox and whatapp to use on windows, well the good news is that you can get it to run.

I have personally successfully used them on my computer.

Download and install Bluestacks
Install the apps you want.

For showbox, you need to download the apk file and then open using bluestacks.

It works really well and now we can enjoy movies on the bigger screen.

Team Viewer ID

posted Jan 7, 2015, 2:54 PM by Surendra Dhanpaul   [ updated Oct 31, 2015, 8:16 AM ]

I searched many, many times before for a simple solution to teamviwer suspected commercial use but this is the best. No need to change mac address, simple and easy.

On your computer:

navigate in the registry to:

add a new D-WORD value (32 bit).
     Name of the value: MIDForceUpdate
     Value: 3 (hex/deci)

What does MID Force Update do?

MIDForceUpdate tells the Teamviewer server that the machine XYZ has the ID XXX-XXX-XXX. This entry forces every other machine with the same ID to renew it.

To prevent Sponsored Session popup go into the registry edit "windows" + "r" regedit, and go to \HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TeamViewerSession\shell\open\command and delete the data.

As it relates to getting full Premium or Corporate licence... most cracks out there don't really work. While it might show full licence, you will be prompted to change your licence from trial expired to extended trial version. This will make team viewer prompt the annoying messages.

The best solution is where team viewer says "Licence Type - Unknown: Updated Recommended."... This removes all the annoying messages and Teamviewer continues to work perfectly.

Quite honestly, team viewer is too expensive. I use it a lot to help friends and family where I don't get paid. So why should I pay for something just cause I help lots of other people.

I won't mind

This is the best solution ever.

SA error

TimeQ plus "sa" error

If you are anything like me who is very good with SQL Server and deal with Acroprint Time Q Plus software then chances are you will come across this error at some time or the other.

When you load timeQ you get a red message which says "sa" user failed to log in or something like that. Its a pity I did not take a screen shot of the error but I will try to get it sometime and include it here later.

Bottom line is this: I went into the instance and changed the password for the sa (server administrator) and this caused the problem... its essentially what the error says.... you changed the sa password.

I did not try reinstalling the timeq software since I was too lazy to do so.

The best way to fix the problem is remember the password.

Adpetec Setup

Fingertec Adaptec Plus and AC 900

I did my first security door lock system for GINA. It was one heck of an installation... At the end of it all, it wasn't so bad of an installation. When I reflect on the basic concept of it, there's nothing wrong.

Here are a few things I learned on this installation:
  • A Pull door is better than a push door. With a pull door, the Electromagnetic (EM) lock is located on the inside of the building. It is still secure on the outside but it is better secured on the inside.
  • The lock and the plate of the door must touch.
  • The lock is better placed at the top of the door facing the door such that when the door closes the lock ad the plate touches.
  • You can use CAT 5 network cables for the installation.
This is a list of all the items you need:
EM Lock
AC 900 terminal
12 volt battery
Adaptec plus
Emergency break glass / Fire exit switch
Exit switch / release button
Key switch

Below is a wiring setup of the installation:

Accumark Gerber 8.2 Tips and Tricks

Well, I am personally accustomed to using Classic PDS in Accumark 8.1 so moving up to 8.2 and newer versions is somewhat a challenge for me. In this post I will update and edit new tips and tricks as I come across them.

  1. Customize you tool bar.
    • Go to view
    • Custom Toolbar
    • Drag the items you want onto the toolbar. Here are a few basic items to add:
      • Open Model, Close model, preferences
      • Undo, redo, zoom, full scale, delete all pieces from work area, delete a single piece, assign rule table, show all sizes, change base size, view all grade point numbers.
  2. What is the equal to classic pds: Grade>Display sizes>Show new size.
    • Grade>Edit Size Line>Change base size.

As I find more info that I think others will find useful, I will add them here.

Gerber Accumark 8.2

posted Jun 15, 2014, 8:50 AM by Surendra Dhanpaul   [ updated Oct 31, 2015, 8:17 AM ]

Hello all,

What can I say.. I have been perfecting my time and attendance system for while now and its getting there. Custom ribbon, better security, better server end procedures. Overall, It's been coming along quite well.

I have taken up a job at a garment manufacturing company. This program, Gerber Accumark is something I have never used before. It's a pattern design program which seems to have excellent functionality.

The Concept:
The company uses a standard set of sizes of patterns to make Riding Apparels. These sizes range from child 4 to child 12, women 6 to women 22 and men 34 to men 48. From these patterns, the alterations are made.

The Problem:
The patterns are inconsistent, simply put. The sloppiness on the point to point of a 6 child is different from the sloppiness women 22. This creates a problem for the alterations. You would think that if you reduce the point to point on the 6 and the same on the 22, then it would be the same movement. However, that's not how the guy who was doing it before me did it.

The company hired a guy who spent over one year designing a system that will facilitate the "uniqueness" of this problem. The guy built an excel file and had all the base data set up. each point moves independently. What he did was move the points based on percentages on X,Y format. So if the point to point was reduced he moved the point by a certain percent on the X and a certain percent on the Y giving the final position of the point. This worked but not perfect. If he used an order for 6 child, he would change the percent to suite that but remember I said earlier that the sloppiness is different from size to size. Hence, whatever percent he used for on size 6 would not work on size 22! This back and forth adjustments to "formulas" went on forever. It was a circle.

The solution:
Mathematics, High school mathematics. Recall that we are dealing with lines and most of them are straight lines. Recall also that we are moving based on X and Y. This tells me that I can use geometry to solve the problems.
Do you remember how to find the Gradient of a line?
Do you remember how to find the equation of a line?
Do you remember Pythagoras Theorem?

Gradient (m) = (Y2 - Y1) / (X2 - X1)

Equation of the line = Y = mX+C      where C is the Y intercept. Now if we know the gradient and we X,Y we can say that:

C = Y - mX

Using those we can properly calculate exactly where the point should fall accurately.

Pythagoras Theorem states that the square of the hypotenuse of a right angle triangle is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.
a^2 + b^2 = c^2

Extended problem to consider. In these patterns, we know how much we need to move along c but we don't know a or b. This is a very difficult problem if you don't become creative. I searched all over the internet for a solution but I couldn't find one. I came up with something  that gives me an extremely close answer and I am willing to work with it.

To know how much I need to move on a, I subtract the absolute value gradient from 100 represented by a percent and multiply that by c.
So assume that I need to reduce the point to point by 1.25 inches and the gradient is -2.5 i would move a (Y) by 1.25*(100-2.5)% = 1.21875
I would use the gradient formula to find where on the line b needs to fall. In the end I should have the correct answer or close enough.

There are lots of other mathematical formulas I am using now in the excel file. Later, I will make the excel file into a database that will be able to store orders, etc.

If  you need any assistance in finalizing the Gerber Accumark Program, let me know. I'm sure I could be of assistance.

Peachtree Integrity Problem

posted Mar 6, 2014, 1:23 PM by Surendra Dhanpaul   [ updated Oct 31, 2015, 8:13 AM ]

Peachtree balance sheet and income statement profit not matching

I tried to get this all day from Google search but just couldn't.

Here's how to fix...

Install the Integrity Check.

Warning: It is vital that you back up your company before you use the Integrity Check; if the procedure is not successful, you may lose valuable data. This procedure can take a very long time depending onthe size of your data files.

If your company has passwords, please use the password that provides unlimited access.

Important: Integrity Check is not to be used casually. While it is very useful, it does not repair all data problems and in some instances can cause other problems when more than one test is run simultaneously or unnecessarily. Therefore this utility is not readily accessible from the program menu. Sage Peachtree strongly recommends that the Integrity Check should beused only after consulting Sage Peachtree Customer Support, a FAQ from Sage Peachtree's website.

Select Start, and then select Run.

On the Open line, type
"C:\Program Files\Sage Software\Peachtree\PEACHW.EXE" -i
(where a space, minus sign, and the letter i follow the EXE).
(C:\Program Files\Sage Software\Peachtree is the default directory where Sage Peachtree is installed. Where C: is the drive Sage Peachtree is installed on, and Peachtree is the folder you installed the Peachtree program into. If you installed to a different directory, change the above path to reflect that location.

Click OK to open Sage Peachtree.

Sage Peachtree will open and Integrity Check will now be available from the File menu. Proceed to 2.
From the main Sage Peachtree menu select File, Integrity Check. Click Continue.

Check Reindex Files on the left and choose Chart on the right and click OK.

From the main Sage Peachtree menu select File, Integrity Check. Click Continue.

Check Reindex Files on the left and choose Jrnl Header on the right and click OK.

From the main Sage Peachtree menu select File, Integrity Check. Click Continue.

Check Reindex Files on the left and choose Jrnl Row on the rightand click OK.

From the main Sage Peachtree menu select File, Integrity Check. Click Continue.

Check Chart of Accounts/Journal under the Data Synchronization Tests and click OK.

Windows Installer not working

posted Jan 23, 2014, 9:07 AM by Surendra Dhanpaul   [ updated Oct 31, 2015, 8:17 AM ]

I ran into this problem on a computer recently.

I tried to uninstall a program, but it failed to launch.
I tried to install windows installer 4.0 but it said "not enough memory".
I tried to installing ms office 2013 but setup will not launch.

The problem is user account and privileges... That's the bottom line. You open control panel and you see your user account is set to administrator, so why am I still getting this problem. Windows can be a bitch sometimes.

Windows Home Premium...I don't usually use this so I don't have this problem but I think its worth a share. If you go to computer management, you wont be able to see local users and groups there in this version of windows.
You need to enable the administrator using this:
Once you do this, you will be able to log in as administrator and install your programs.
Start the windows installer service.
